Surgeon Consult

We are done the appointment. Dom teared up a little, but the Dr. was great with him and by the end of the visit, Dom was good and ready to work hard when surgery was done. They will be removing the tumor that is a MPNST as well as the other one they were watching. They will have to remove the femoral nerve as well as tissue and muscle surrounding the nerve area. The Dr will also try and remove some of a tumor that causes him pain on the inner thigh, but can't do too much because he wouldn't be able to walk. He will have a 4-5 day hospital stay, then possibly a rehab center. Later he will receive a brace to assist in walking, since he won't be able to use move the lower portion of his leg. Yes, hard to hear what your son will have to go through over the next coming months, but I keep holding to the truth that his oncologist said, that the location of his tumor isn't life threatening. It isn't on a vital organ. I pray it doesn't metastasized and thank God it may only be life altering. I KNOW God's plan is perfect and we will continue to take it one day at a time. His doctor asked about his band. Dom explained that "the Dom Squad is a group of prayer warriors who are praying for me." Then he proceeded to give the Dr his band. The Dr said, "that's a great team to have".
