Christmas Day Plus

My, my what a roller coaster of a day! It started out great with gift opening and playing with some of the toys. But then realized Dominic was not himself. He literally just sat and stared. Not playing or laughing so I took his temperature and it was 102. I called the Dr. and she said to give Tylenol and wait it out and continue with his routine nebulizer treatments keep his reactive airway disease in check. So we packed up to go to our next destination Carlisle, PA to visit with our friends Jay, Kate at Jay's parents house.

Dominic seemed OK until dinner time when he just sat at the table and did not move. I decided to take him back and check his temperature and it was at 105. I called the Dr. again and she recommended going to the ER to get his checked out. Dan and I spent Christmas night at the Carlisle ER. After waiting, seeing the Dr, chest x-ray, and Popsicle they sent us home with instruction of alternating Tylenol/Advil. They diagnosed him with a viral infection. The good news was that his chest was clear which means his nebulizer treatments were doing what they were supposed to do and prevent a reaction from a respiratory infection. That night was horrible since we all slept in the same room and he was up ALL night coughing.

We were not too happy with the ER, so we made an appointment with our Dr. the next day so we had to get on the road to be at my parents for dinner. The only difference was for us give him Claritin to help with the nasal congestion and a Rx for an antibiotic in case the fever did not drop in 2-3 days.

The other drama of the day was that Dan surprised me with a new digital camera for Christmas. He decided to take it with us to the hospital to document Dominic's first ER visit. Once we went back to the examine room he realized he lost the camera. He looked everywhere, but no camera to be found. This is why we have not photos from the afternoon/evening. His only way to get over it was that he hoped whoever has it, needed it more than we did.

Katelynn's "puter" as she calls it or what we call computer. We were glad she asked for this because she is not one who really sits at the computer we have in the playroom. She would much rather play with her toys or outside. We are so glad she prefers those things, but know in this day and age she will need to learn the keys and working with mouse. This toy allows her to do so while learning.

The only other thing she asked Santa for was a Mix Stix (Disney mp3). We loaded music and she sat in the back of the van singing as loud as she could with the wrong words! Dan and I cracked up because we know we have all been there!

This was her reaction to the sewing and knitting machine we got Katelynn. She always wants to do whatever I am doing in my "playroom" (as she calls my craft room). When she saw this in the toy catalog she told me she wanted to be able to learn to sew like I do, so we will see how it goes.
