PRAISE! The second lesion is not malignant.  And we also got the great news that he is able to participate in the trial. This means no traditional chemo. Some further explanation of Dom's treatment. The standard protocol of chemo, they had found, only shrinks the tumors like Dom's 50% of the time. Therefore, he is part of a trial where they are trying to determine if just radiation or radiation with a targeted chemo, would be as effective without the long term harmful affects of the traditional chemo treatment. Interesting side affect, if he is selected for the targeted chemo plan, is his hair won't fall out, but turn gray. Katelynn has asked if she can get a streak of gray in her hair when his turns. We agreed and said, we already have our streaks. Then my dad said, I am all in. He got his baseline lab work this week for the trial which included a 2 hour MRI, Pulmonary Function Test, EKG, blood work, CT scan, Bone Survey, and meet with his nurse.  His sample radiation session will happen the week of Christmas, and most likely will be starting full treatment the Monday after Christmas.

We are anxious to get all this started so we can prevent it from spreading, but the oncologist has reassured us that we are actually ahead of schedule especially when falling around the holidays. They have to do a lot of calculations for this type, so they get as targeted as possible due to the nature of NF. Praying for the MPNST to stay contained during the planning phase.
